Founded in 1959 by Mr. Joseph Lomonico, the former Director of Driver Education at Fair Lawn High School, Fair Lawn Driving School has been dedicated to producing safe, confident, and responsible drivers for over six decades. Joseph’s experience in the classroom and on the road allowed him to teach generations of students with patience, skill, and a focus on real-world driving safety.
In 1979, his son Neil Lomonico, a licensed driving instructor and New Jersey Law Enforcement Officer, took the helm. Neil combined his deep knowledge of traffic safety with his father’s passion for teaching, further elevating the school’s standards. Today, Fair Lawn Driving School is highly respected throughout New Jersey, known for its exceptional instructors, individualized lessons, and consistently high student success rates. Families continue to trust the school not just for driver education, but for a proven tradition of excellence and safety that spans generations.
In February 2022, Nick and Kristen Nobre took over the helm of Fair Lawn Driving School from the Lomonico family. For Nick, this transition was especially meaningful, he had grown up with Neil Lomonico as a mentor, learning the values of patience, safety, and excellence in driver education from a young age. Taking over the school felt like “keeping it in the family,” and Nick and Kristen have continued the tradition of guiding generations of students to become confident, responsible drivers, while honoring the decades long legacy established by the Lomonicos.
Nick followed in Neil’s footsteps and also became a NJ Law Enforcement Officer and eventually a Certified Driving Instructor. Nick learned a lot from Neil about the Fair Lawn Driving School, instructing techniques and good education practice, which made for an easy transition.

Nicholas "Nick" Nobre
Chief Instructor | Owner
Nick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Studies from Fairleigh Dickinson University and has been a certified New Jersey Supervising Driving Instructor since 2020. He is also a certified National Safety Council Defensive Driving Instructor and further strengthened his expertise by completing the Driver’s Education program at William Paterson University.
A proud lifelong resident of Fair Lawn, Nick has dedicated many years to volunteering with local emergency services, reflecting his strong commitment to giving back to his community. His passion for education is evident in his work with students, where he focuses on building not only strong driving skills but also confidence, responsibility, and a deep understanding of road safety.
Nick finds great fulfillment in helping students reach important milestones—especially when they successfully pass their road test, a moment that often reminds him of his own experience as a young driver.
Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, trying new restaurants, traveling to new destinations, and watching the New York Giants. His well-rounded lifestyle and community involvement contribute to his approachable and supportive teaching style.
Kristen Nobre
Chief Instructor | Owner
Kristen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Health from Montclair State University and earned her Driver Education instructor certification from William Paterson University. She became a Certified Driving Instructor in 2022.
With over fifteen years of experience teaching Driver Education and Physical Education at the high school level, Kristen brings a wealth of knowledge and classroom expertise to her instruction. She also earned her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Seton Hall University, further enhancing her ability to support and connect with students.
Kristen finds immense joy in helping students succeed—especially when they pass their Knowledge Test—knowing she is guiding them toward becoming safe, confident, and responsible drivers.
Outside of teaching, Kristen enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, and their dog. She also loves unwinding with a good book and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees.
Fred D.
Senior Driving Instructor
Fred D., as he’s known, has been a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School since 2014 and brings extensive behind-the-wheel teaching experience to his students. A retired coast-to-coast tractor-trailer driver, Fred offers a wealth of real-world road knowledge and practical insight, making every lesson both educational and engaging.
Highly requested by students and families alike, Fred has taught generations of drivers, earning a reputation as one of the best instructors in the state. His patient teaching style, combined with years of experience navigating a variety of road conditions, ensures that students not only pass their road tests but become safe, confident drivers for life.
A passionate sports fan, Fred follows NASCAR and cheers for the NY Giants, Yankees, Devils, and Providence College Basketball. He enjoys oldies and country music, and treasures time spent with his grandchildren, who he considers his greatest pride. Dedicated, knowledgeable, and approachable, Fred continues to make a lasting impact on every student he teaches.
Robert B.
Road Test Specialist
Robert, affectionately known as “Benji,” has been a certified driving instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School since 2013 and brings extensive behind-the-wheel teaching experience to his students.
With a patient and supportive approach, Benji is passionate about helping students develop the skills, confidence, and awareness needed to become safe and responsible drivers. He has a strong track record of success when preparing students for their road tests, helping them feel confident and well-prepared on test day. His calm demeanor and practical instruction style make him a trusted guide for drivers of all experience levels.
Benji takes pride in creating a comfortable learning environment and finds fulfillment in helping students gain confidence behind the wheel.
Outside of teaching, he is a fan of most sports and enjoys indulging in pizza while listening to music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. One of his most memorable moments as an instructor was the unforgettable experience of narrowly avoiding a 500-pound black bear during a lesson.
Nava R.
Driving Instructor
Nava is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School who transitioned to this role in 2015 after a successful career as a school teacher. Highly requested by students, she is known for her patience, calm demeanor, and the joy she brings to every driving lesson. Her approachable personality and ability to make students feel comfortable behind the wheel have earned her a loyal following, and many students return to her for advanced lessons or to recommend her to friends and family.
Nava’s commitment to her students goes beyond the lessons themselves. She tailors each session to meet individual learning styles and paces, ensuring that every student feels supported and empowered. Her high success rate in preparing students for their road tests reflects both her expertise and her dedication to student success.
Outside of teaching, Nava is a creative soul. She enjoys designing and creating, with interior design as one of her favorite hobbies. She loves spending time experimenting with new recipes, especially Asian and Middle Eastern dishes. Whether she’s helping students conquer the challenges of learning to drive or sharing her creative passions, Nava brings energy, care, and a genuine love for what she does to every part of her life.
Paulina P.
Driving Instructor
Paulina is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School since 2018. She loves helping students transform from feeling hesitant about driving to confidently enjoying their time behind the wheel. Seeing a student smile after six hours of instruction is one of her greatest rewards.
Outside of teaching, Paulina enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and hiking. She’s also a fan of techno music and delights in exploring a variety of cuisines, including Thai, Indian, and Polish foods. Paulina is passionate about creating a positive and supportive learning experience for her students.
Dave E.
Driving Instructor
Dave is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School since 2020 experience teaching behind the wheel. He finds joy in guiding students on their journey to becoming confident, accomplished drivers.
Understanding that learning to drive can be both exciting and nerve-wracking, Dave recalls a student who was so nervous she shook before her test but ended up acing it. Outside of work, Dave enjoys riding motorcycles, spending time with dogs, and dining out. He’s also a fan of high school lacrosse and cheers passionately for the Rangers.
Mark S.
Driving Instructor
Mark is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School with over 35 years of experience teaching driver training to Fire, Police, and EMT departments. Now retired, Mark brings his extensive knowledge and passion for safety to new drivers. He thrives on helping students build confidence and loves witnessing their “aha moments” behind the wheel.
Outside of teaching, Mark enjoys cheering for the NY Giants. A food enthusiast, he appreciates good BBQ, Mexican, sushi, and just about any Asian food. Mark is dedicated to sharing his expertise to help create safer roadways for everyone.
BethAnn I.
Driving Instructor
BethAnn’s experience as a certified instructor teaching behind the wheel began in 2022. As each new student enters the car, she knows it’s a big responsibility to guide them into the world of safe driving, and she’s dedicated to help shape them into the best driving they can be.
When asked why she chose this path, BethAnn shared, “The idea of teaching new drivers to be the best that they can be is an exciting new chapter!”
Outside of work, BethAnn loves spending time with friends and family, or playing a round of golf. She looks forward helping create a new generation of safe and responsible drivers.

Driving Instructor
Scott is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School who joined the team in 2022. Passionate about helping students build confidence and skills behind the wheel, Scott is dedicated to ensuring his lessons are both engaging and informative. His goal is to empower every student to become a safe and capable driver.
In his free time, Scott enjoys watching football and spending winter days skiing. A foodie at heart, he can’t resist a good chicken parmesan. With a patient and encouraging teaching style, Scott is committed to guiding his students toward driving success.

Driving Instructor
Brian is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School who joined the team in 2023. Passionate about helping people learn new skills, Brian finds joy in guiding students to become confident drivers. In his free time, he loves being on the water, enjoying activities like boating, waterskiing, fishing, and swimming.
As an avid football enthusiast, Brian proudly cheers for the Green Bay Packers. He’s also a fan of Chinese food and listens to hair metal music. Dedicated and approachable, Brian brings his enthusiasm and supportive teaching style to every driving lesson with every single student.
Joe Q.
Driving Instructor
Joe, also known as “Skip,” is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School. A retired law enforcement officer, he brings a wealth of experience and patience to his role as a driving instructor. Currently also working as a school security officer, Joe is committed to safety both in schools and on the road. A second-degree black belt, Joe trains regularly in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and enjoys staying active.
Outside of work, he loves listening to old-school rock music and spending quality time with his two children. Joe’s own experience with the driving instructor test helps him relate to his students’ anxieties and guide them toward confidence and success.
Tito C
Driving Instructor
Tito is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School who joined the team in 2023. Passionate about teaching, Tito enjoys helping students gain confidence behind the wheel while promoting safe driving habits to make the roads safer for everyone.
In his free time, Tito is an avid fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. He also loves eating Asian and Spanish-style cuisine and enjoys hobbies like listening to music, playing golf and softball, and spending quality time with his grandkids. Tito brings enthusiasm and patience to every lesson, helping students achieve driving success.
Jay L.
Driving Instructor
Jay is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School who joined the team in 2023. A certified Athletic Trainer at the high school level, Jay has a natural ability to teach and connect with his students. He became inspired to be a driving instructor while teaching his son to drive during the permit process, finding joy in helping others develop such an important skill.
In his free time when he’s not behind-the-wheel, Jay enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, and boating. A passionate sports fan, he loves watching various sports and appreciates spending time outdoors. Jay is dedicated to guiding his students toward becoming safe, confident drivers.
Mart M.
Driving Instructor
Mart is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School who joined the team in 2023. In addition to his role here, he is also a medical instructor and college professor, bringing a wealth of teaching experience to his students.
Mart loves spending time with his family, playing the drums, and traveling. An avid basketball fan, he also enjoys Italian cuisine and listens to a wide variety of music. Passionate about teaching, Mart has always enjoyed helping family and friends learn to drive. Now, he is dedicated to guiding new drivers in mastering proper techniques to ensure safety on the road.
Jenn R.
Driving Instructor
Jenn is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School with a background in driver’s education since 2014 and behind-the-wheel instruction since 2019. As an elementary physical education teacher, she also enjoys coaching, running, being creative, and relaxing at the beach.
In her spare time, Jenn loves watching the NJ Devils, indulging in pizza and ice cream, and listening to Taylor Swift. Inspired by her enjoyment of teaching driver’s education, Jenn became a driving instructor to promote safety on the road. She is committed to teaching proper techniques to help create safer roadways for everyone.
Steve G
Driving Instructor
Steve is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School who joined the team in 2025. Steve has been driving a tractor trailer for close to 50 years. Steve enjoys reading, fishing and outdoor walks.
In his free time he cheers for the Yankees and Green Bay Packers. He likes to listen to classic rock.
Steve became an instructor to help make the roadways safer for everyone.
Edward S
Driving Instructor
Ed is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School. Ed joined the team in 2025, and was eager to get out and teach future drivers. Ed retired from many years in the Banking world, however always had a desire to teach. He coached basketball for many years.
In his free time he enjoys running half marathons, fishing and spending time with his family. He is a Jets, Giants and Mets fan. Ed’s family time is the most important to him.
He became an instructor to help young drivers learn, gain confidence and succeed.
Rich V.
Driving Instructor
Rich is a certified driving instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School, he joined the team in 2025.
A former chef with a love for all types of cuisine, Rich enjoys sharing his appreciation for food, music, and culture with those around him. He listens to everything from 60s, 70s, and 80s classics to today’s hits, and speaks Italian, French, Spanish, and some Japanese.
Outside of teaching, Rich is an avid adventurer who enjoys cycling, scuba diving, hiking, and camping. He is also a dedicated leader with Boy Scout Troop 53.
Rich became a driving instructor because he wanted to be a positive influence on young drivers and help make the roads a safer place. His patient, supportive approach and commitment to driver education make him a trusted instructor for students of all experience levels.
Joe R.
Driving Instructor
Joe is a certified instructor at Fair Lawn Driving School, he joined the team in 2025. Joe is currently a Vice Principal and Athletic Director at the High School level. In his free time he enjoys golfing. He watches football, basketball, baseball.
His favorite sports teams are the Dolphins and Yankees. He loves steak and listening to country music. Joe became an instructor because he enjoys teaching, and has previously taught family members how to drive.
